National Symposium on Harnessing Plant Genetic Resources of Peninsular India (NSPPI 2026)
The National Symposium on Harnessing Plant Genetic Resources (PGR) of Peninsular India (NSPPI 2026) will be held on 21–22 May 2026 at the ICAR–Indian Institute of Horticultural Research (ICAR-IIHR), Bengaluru.
The symposium aims to bring together scientists, policymakers, breeders, biodiversity researchers, and students to discuss strategies for the conservation, characterization, and sustainable utilization of plant genetic resources in Peninsular India.
Peninsular India, including the Western and Eastern Ghats, the Deccan Plateau, coastal ecosystems, and island regions, represents one of the richest repositories of plant genetic diversity in the tropics. These resources are critical for climate-resilient agriculture, food and nutritional security, biodiversity conservation, and emerging bioeconomy sectors.
The symposium will provide a platform for scientific exchange, policy dialogue, and collaboration among researchers and institutions working in the field of plant genetic resources.
Organizers
- Indian Society of Plant Genetic Resources (ISPGR), New Delhi
- ICAR–Indian Institute of Horticultural Research (ICAR-IIHR), Bengaluru
- Trust for Advancement of Agricultural Sciences (TAAS), New Delhi
Symposium Themes
Research papers and presentations are invited under the following themes:
